Take a deep breath – and exhale …
This time, do it mindfully, with both eyes are closed and attentively take a deep inhalation, feels how the air travels within the body … and exhale
By repeating several times, you will realize how your body now feel more relaxed and calmer than before.
Does breathing heal your anxiety?
As an example, I personally have gone through a heart-breaking moment of break up years ago. I felt physically and emotionally terrible, insecure, angry, confused. It was very painful.
I decided to book a plane ticket to join a 10-day course of Vipassana
(Silent Meditation). I wanted to escape from the routine and people that I used to do or meet on my daily life to finally just be with myself. After 10 day, the course end.
Does Vipassana heal my broken heart?
The idea that breathing could ease your anxiety – could be true.
But there may be something in the future that could trigger your anxiety again.
Vipassana did not heal my broken heart right away. But it helped me to deal with it peacefully
For me, healing is going through series of inner work.
The journey of healing begins, as we – the body, the heart could not bear the pain anymore. The need to get something off from the chest. To remove that – that you feel as a blockage to your well-being
It is said that first step in healing is – ACCEPTANCE.
Accepting that it is happening with you. And there is nothing wrong with you to fall into the situation where you are let’s say betrayed, misunderstood, judged wrongly. Accept that this is happening for your experience as human beings.
What’s next?
WITHDRAWING
Pull inward. Creating a space for you and only for you. It is not like isolating yourself.
Remember, I decided to go to another place and create my own space right after the breakup. Because I needed time to accept and to calm myself down. It was too chaotic in my head and heart that everything is messed up and did not work out the way we saw it.
If it meant to go to a new place – then go ahead.
SHARE IT
Now that you took your time, you probably need to have a person who is ready to listen – not to give you any advice – but to listen to you without judging. In this case, this could be someone that you can trust, because at this stage you are emotionally vulnerable. Easy to manipulate.
REGAIN THE INNER STRENGTH and MENDING
Affirmation and practicing gratitude do help to regain the inner strength. Afterall, you are whole and complete. It was a big lesson, now it is time to mend what’s broken. Learn a new skill, take a foreign language course, try something new, discover a new hobby, gain more knowledge through reading, expand your interest in life – while forgiving
CHOOSE THE RIGHT MEDICINE
Our ancestors have inherited us with knowledge, practice, and remedy for the health of our mind, body, and spirit. We can find it when we do yoga and meditation. Or maybe sounds at certain frequency does something to us. That makes us feel better. Or maybe have a ceremony to release and purifying. Change your diet. Do mindful walk in the forest or nature. Camping by the river. Try a new recipe to make detoxifying juice that rich with vitamin and other health benefits. Intuitively, pick your medicine.
REBIRTH
Know what, it is not that bad actually
You made it, and you made it well. It could be a turning point for you to take another journey. Look at you now! Matured and wiser than yesterday. You know a lot more than yesterday. You look healthier. Stronger. You glow differently. You radiate kindness. The overall journey takes you to the essence of beings – love. Since now you are filled with knowledge, health, and wisdom it is the right time to share and make positive impact out there. Go volunteering? New look? Change the job? You have all within you to elevate higher.
Now, pause there ….
The question of self-worth may arise at the beginning and throughout. My suggestion is to never second-guess yourself. Stay firm and reassured, even though it is hard.
There is an ability to cope and to heal within us. However, if we are not in a healthy condition, to tap into it won’t be easy. A healer or a shaman or your spiritual guru could help. Be careful in selecting those that you refer as a ‘specialist’. What ‘gift’ that you need from one of them right now that could help you to sort things out clearly. Which of their guidance that could help you to see through things wisely – in a positive non-judgmental way?
Healing is not limited by time nor it is a competition to get there first.
It is a continuing process of inner work. Therefore, be gentle and to always be kind to yourself. In the end of the day, the lesson given from the broken heart enriched your soul.
